This was a pretty amazing auction. The centerpiece was Gilmour’s “Black Strat”:

Jim Irsay is the owner of the NFL’s Indianapolis Colts. What do you do with a guitar like that? Do you hang it on a wall? Will it ever be played again?
I like to imagine that his kids won’t know the significance of the guitar and it’ll end up at Goodwill after he dies,
For that price I wonder if Gilmour will share his rig rundown with Irsay or just leave him twisting.
I suspect it will hang in an acrylic box for people to ogle at on game day. Although, not many young’uns will be ogling.
However, I could see it being ‘loaned’ to a virtuoso-type player, given the right set of circumstances.
Irsay also owns other iconic guitars including Jerry Garcia’s Wolf guitar.
