Here it is! Your chance to go back to the ’90s. Right on the heels of the 30th anniversary of the first folding phone, the team at FrontierBundles.com wants you to use a flip phone. For one whole week. With no cheating.
That’s right. We’re looking for one brave soul to willingly give up their smartphone for a full seven days in favor of a flip phone. The madness! We know. That’s why we want to see what happens. How did you sleep? Were you more or less productive? How long did things take? Did it feel like you went back in time?
You tell us, and we’ll pay you $1,000 and give you a handy-dandy survival kit to keep you going.
A week? Is that all? I can do that without breaking a sweat.
Unless you use a smartphone for business this is easy. Even a month would be pretty easy. Longer would just be inconvenient and at some point not worth $1000.
Doesn’t look as though they’re looking for someone who largely lives on the desktop to begin with. I’ve only owned a smartphone for five and a half years and barely use it for calls. I mostly use iOS on an iPad anyway. Their requirement for blogging/vlogging about the experience would almost be a second job in itself. And any entrant would be competing for that prize with other glory-seekers.
I smartphone for business and I could still manage this; my Mac could pick up the slack. The hardest part under normal circumstances would be finding a flip phone to use while the smartphone is away.

I just spent a week on the bike and basically only used my phone to post pics on Facebook for my wife back home. It would be easy to have done without it, and even easier to do it now that I’m back in the office. Which makes me wonder… why am I buying a new one every (or every other) year? :-p
