I love music documentaries. But I’d be hard-pressed to name 10.
No matter what you think about the order of this list, there’s a lot of good ones to consider here. And as with all lists, there are some worthy candidates left out.
One of my favorites, Muscle Shoals, didn’t make the cut. Any others you’d add?
Soundbreaking
Sonic Highways
Chasing Sound
How about:
– Let It Be
– The Complete Beatles
– Rattle & Hum
– The Search for Robert Johnson
– Standing in the Shadows of Motown
I would definitely add “loudQUIETloud: A
Film About the Pixies”. It was made during their 2004 reunion tour after their 1992 breakup. It’s uplifting and heartbreaking at the same time. Onstage they make great music and offstage they don’t have much to say to each other. No other music film had such a large emotional impact on me.
