This is a crazy mashup of Edwin Starr’s War and the Village People’s YMCA.
Thing is, it’s incredibly well done. One of those, “I have no idea how this was created” kind of videos. Is all of this audio/video archived? Is some of it recreated?
No matter, I love it.
I know that all music is a matter of taste, but I did not find that compelling at all. It took two classic songs that have a distinct sound and combined them to make something that whether one likes it or not, is not anywhere near the distinctiveness and level of either alone.
I’m a big fan of mashups done cleverly, especially with songs considered “classic” by old farts like me. This one was so-so. Look for others by The Kleptones or Go Home Productions for some much more fun stuff.
Omg. Wtf? There was a brilliant (yet obviously disturbing) version of Bush the younger “singing” Imagine. There is a video version on The Toob, but it’s the Walk on the Wild Side mashup. The original felt less cute suitably ironic.
