Introducing Apple Card, a new kind of credit card created by Apple

Apple:

Apple today announced Apple Card, an innovative, new kind of credit card created by Apple and designed to help customers lead a healthier financial life. Apple Card is built into the Apple Wallet app on iPhone, offering customers a familiar experience with Apple Pay and the ability to manage their card right on iPhone. Apple Card transforms the entire credit card experience by simplifying the application process, eliminating fees, encouraging customers to pay less interest and providing a new level of privacy and security. Available in the US this summer, Apple Card also offers a clearer and more compelling rewards program than other credit cards with Daily Cash, which gives back a percentage of every purchase as cash on customers’ Apple Cash card each day.

This Apple credit card lives in your Wallet app. Sign up on your iPhone, it’s available in minutes. And there’s no fee. Ever.

3% cash back on Apple purchases, 2% on all other purchases. And that cash back is available immediately.

The transaction reporting is phenomenal. So much clearer than traditional cards. And there’s a laser etched card for when you need an actual physical card.

  1. I’ll be honest, I’m going to get one just for the looks. Plus no foreign transaction fees. Hard to find cards that give something back, have no foreign fees, and no annual fee.

  2. This sounds pretty darn good. The same rewards as my Citi Double Cash card, but I don’t have to wait for that cash back. That’s really nice. I just wish more merchants would get on board. I still find places that only let you swipe the magnetic strip!

  3. Clarification:

2% on all other purchases made via Apple Pay.
1% on purchases made using the physical card.

I’d love to have one of these. I don’t have a Mastercard that works with Apple Pay yet. Unfortunately, I’m in Canada.

  4. I’ll get one just for the laser-etched titanium card. But I have no use for any of it. What I need is one-time-use numbers for possibly sketchy sites. That’s where I hoped she was going.

  5. Clarification:

2% on all other purchases made via Apple Pay.
1% on purchases made using the physical card.

I’d love to have one of these. I don’t have a Mastercard that works with Apple Pay yet. Unfortunately, I’m in Canada.

  6. For those of us who pay off their balances on a monthly basis, this is not a bad option. For sure don’t swipe it in a retail location (1% cash back, you can do better), but it is just great for Apple Pay. For purchases in the Apple Store, where you get 3%… just make sure that product isn’t available at Amazon.com where you can get 5% back with their Chase branded Amazon card. But for sure next time I buy a CTO laptop I’ll be using this.
