The new case will work with both old and new AirPods.

Add to the mix free engraving, and this was an instabuy for me. Mine are ordered, with the engraving “Dark Mode Dave”, and should be in hand in time for next week’s Dalrymple Report.

Not really. It’s one-size-fits-most, or -many. One size will never fit all, and that’s just a fact. There is the Beats line with other options, these however are pods, not buds. They’re one of Apple’s best sellers so I don’t think they’re losing as much as you think they are.

Though it would have been nice if they also offered a black color. Not as identifiable as the white, think 2016 Summer Olympics. Nonetheless, I’m sure they would be very popular.

I suspect your notion that they fit “most people” is just as anecdotal as mine. They fit some of my friends comfortably; a couple, marginally (they own them but complain about the looseness) and the rest of us, tilt your head 10 degrees and they fall out. So in my sphere of friends who use Apple products, the majority don’t find them to be a good fit. If “most” of your friends do… lucky them.
ColorWare is offering preorders on the new AirPods, custom painted in the color of your choice. It’s expensive, but great.
My wife has ears that literally don’t have a space for them to sit in, so I’m sympathetic to this argument, but…
I see _tons_ of AirPods out there, especially in my gym. Based on that alone, the eligibility is way above 50%.
In any case, as the PP mentioned, there’ll be Beats offerings with the new chip, possibly true-wireless ones if the current rumors are true.
