It’s December, which means Best of 2018 lists are here. With so many lists out there, who has time to read all of them?
Turns out: We do. But because you probably don’t, we rounded up all the Top 10 lists we could find, smashed ’em together in a big spreadsheet, and spit out overall Top 10 lists for the year’s best albums, songs, books and movies. You’re welcome.
I suppose it had to happen eventually but I’m officially old. Not only have I not heard any of these songs, but I’ve never even heard of six of the artists on the list.
It’s not age but discernment. Look at the NYT’s bestseller lists.
I am curious as to who the six artists were that you never heard of. Seven of the ten songs are by very famous artists.
I’ve also heard none of the songs and know 5 of the artists. The ones I’ve never heard of are

haven’t heard of Bradley Cooper either but I gave that one a pass as I have heard of Lady Gaga.

I’m older. I have heard of and heard every one of these songs.
To say you don’t
know these artists tells me you outght to get out more.
“this is America” by childish Gambino (Donald glover) is the most important video and song of the 21st century. Janelle Monae and Robyn have had lengthy careers in music, their songs played all over playlists, tv shows and conventional terrestrial radio.
As an older music fan, most of this is very goods stuff. Quit hiding under a rock.
Aside from being a very talented singer, Janelle Monáe stars in Pepsi super-bowl commercials. And really, you’ve never heard of Bradley Cooper? Star of one of the top-grossing rate-R movies of all time, The Hangover? How have you never seen him in a movie? And aside from that, his work covers so many genres. He’s the voice of Rocket Raccoon in Guardians of the Galaxy!
My list is the same, though I had heard of Bradley Cooper (but never connected him to music).
If living under a rock means I avoid hearing Cardi B, I’ll be be content with the sublitho life.
Sorry but not everyone has the same tastes in music. Even if I ‘did get out more” and wasn’t “hiding under a rock”, that’s no guarantee that 1) I’d hear these songs/artists and 2) that I’d like them. Don’t make assumptions that your experience is the same as mine.
