I did last night and tried it out. Weird. Abnormal heat rate notifications. Ran the ECG app and came back afib. Well…glitchy firmware. Let’s try again. Afib. Again and again and again. Piece of crap watch.
My wife wakes up and I put it on her. Normal. Normal. Me afib. Try the other wrist, try the underside of the wrist. Every time afib warning.
As always, take what you read on Reddit with a grain of salt but, if true, this is an incredible story and one I’m sure will be repeated.
Of course, in the US if you have individual insurance that will cost you a few thousand dollars by time all the tests are done, etc.
Oh, sure. It’s just that it will cost you probably $5000. Better than being dead of course, but for people living paycheck to paycheck… it’s hard system.
But, at least you’re on the way to a diagnosis and maybe dealing with it.
I’m not sure about the cost. I recently was diagnosed and tested (I have afib) but you may be right. I had a stress test and an ultrasound ekg and some imaging of my heart.
Regardless of who’s in notional control of Congress, the GOP will find ways to gut Medicare the same way British Tories are gutting the NHS. Slowly, and by degrees.

When I told it I had been diagnosed by a physician to have AFib, it would’t let me set it up to warn me about AFib. Smart. No need to be told what I already know. And after four EKG tests, I’m Sinus. No AFib. Metoprolol does it’s job!
Try triple heart bypass surgery after those tests. Total bill, over $400,000! Thank goodness I have employer-provided insurance. I was $1,700 (tax free) out of pocket. And I’m only 18 months to Medicare. Hopefully before the GOP can take over again and gut it.
I’d love this feature – but I live in the UK. Why isn’t it available outside the USA?
