JerryRigEverything’s iPad Pro bend test has taken the world by storm. This isn’t an iPhone 6S scenario. Nobody is trying to bend their iPad Pro in half and your backpack won’t do it either. Plus, y’all act like these devices aren’t designed to flex a little. Do you know what’s worse than a tablet/smartphone that bend a little bit? One that’s slightly stronger but shatters upon the slightest bit of force. Ya goofs.
I love this response to the latest “bendgate” fake controversy. Thanks very much to Khaled for the link to the video.
Makes me sick to see twats spending $1000+ on something just to destroy it.
Yes, this is silly, but an unfortunate side-effect of aluminum is that it does bend/dent.
Less than a week of owning my 2017 iPad Pro 12.9″ I had a small but noticeable dent in the back. I had never dropped the device, but did put it in my full backpack. Evidently that was enough. I bought a back case to avoid new dents, and is why I’m glad the 2018 folio has a back cover.
The Surface Pro does feel more robust. On the other hand, it’s thicker and has a fan. Aluminum is a good distributor of heat…
Did he get enough hits to pay for his iPad?
Great piece of satire.
I expect my Air2 to break easily that’s why I take extra care whenever I travel with it.
The response to his piece really brings out all the hate in full force, kind of funny to see the response from people who’ll never use and never buy an iPad.
Propose the researcher purchase 10-12 more tablets (at their own expense) to verify the results.
Only then will we be able to measure the extent of the “researcher’s” idiocy.
Does this mean I have to stop putting it in my back pocket?
I hope not.
Do you think it bent because you stuffed the bag tightly or do you think it banged up against something external? I had no idea an iPad would bend or twist that easily when put into a backpack. I thought at least it would have some flexibility so it might bend back. Maybe that bend test wasn’t as useless as I thought. Anyway, it was interesting to hear your experience.
I wouldn’t take the chance of putting my iPad into a backpack, but I suppose many people would and expect it to survive without bends or dents. I definitely think I’ll stick with notebooks with much more protection against accidental damage.
My Ipad Air 2 was bent pretty noticeable. When you looked at it from the side. Happened in the backpack. Now it seems to have reverted, but it also looks a little twisted :-). Either way, it still works fine after 4 years, so no complaints here.
Buying something for $1000+ and destroying it just to make a point seems pretty psychopathic to me. This should carry a hefty fine or at least a few months working at an asian manufacturing line, imho.
I agree. This is far too small a sample to constitute a valid statistic.
I don’t understand your argument here. If you would put books in a backpack, why wouldn’t you put a tablet?
I put my iPad Pro in my backpack every day, sometimes next to my MacBook Pro. There’s a “sleeve” designed for laptops, and both fit in there.
Conspicuous/destructive consumption as public performance goes back a long way. Bragging about your prosperity to your neighboring tribe’s chief by throwing valuables into the fire during dinner always impresses the ladies.
This satirical response is great.
Most of these ‘bendgate’ videos are trying to break their iPads. If you actually try to bend it you can. Because they keep trying until they make it happen.
I bought my new iPad Pro the day they released and it’s been in a backpack with books etc every day. And i’m no delicate flower. I drop my backpack on the floor all the time. I lean back against it on the subway etc. not even a scratch and it’s in nothing more than the Smart Keyboard case. But I’m sure if I put it in a vise, or stepped on one half of it or whatever it would bend or even shatter. That’s why I have apple care
i think it bent because the bag was stuffed pretty tightly with heavy stuff (camera gear). in my experience, apple notebooks are a little more sturdy – but I doubt that one with plastic casing would have survived those forces without a crack.
