Take two minutes to watch Tim Cook speak. The content of his speech is strongly held, fervently delivered. I really got caught up in it.
Has he memorized this speech? I might just be missing it, but if he is reading from a teleprompter, he’s hiding it very well.
No matter, interesting to watch this political side of Tim Cook emerge, especially as compared with those early Apple rollouts, as he first dipped his toes in the keynote waters.
Dude. I love Tim as much as the next person (provided that the next person is intelligent and not some hateful troll) but the teleprompter reflector is literally RIGHT IN FRONT OF HIM.

The teleprompters are there. Whether we should be able to see projected text on them from any angle other than Tim’s is another matter.
Um, you can see the TelePrompter as he walks to the podium.
Regardless. Apple’s commitment to privacy is a key point for me.
This is a company that went to the mat with the FBI over a guy who may have been an Islamic terrorist in America*. A guy who was already dead and couldn’t complain. Again, a Muslim terrorist!
That’s commitment. And I appreciate it.
*I’m still not clear on whether it was actually terrorism or a workplace dispute — he and his wife shot his colleagues. And I don’t think anyone has ever seen a full accounting, either.
Or if Google pays you $16B. The fight with the FBI, but not unique. Facebook, Microsoft and Google have all fought against giving the government backdoors or weakening encryption for government use.
