Watch Apple’s next special event

Apple:

Live from Brooklyn.

Along with the invites sent out to the media this morning, Apple has put up a page where you can watch the livestream of the announcements on October 30 at 10 a.m. EDT. You can add a reminder to your Calendar from that page as well.

As a special treat, refresh the Special Event page to go through all the different invites Apple sent out this morning.

Interestingly, Apple isn’t doing the event at the Steve Jobs Theater at the new Apple Park campus but instead doing it in the 2,100 seat Howard Gilman Opera House in Brooklyn, New York.

  1. My sense is rather than have everyone back to Apple Park they are just changing things up a bit. Lets them get other press there that might not otherwise attend in CA, which widens their face-to-face time with different outlets, and especially press from Europe who don’t have time-budget for a small impact event than the iPhone. NYC is +5-7 hours vs. 8-10 hours time-zone and only +6/7 vs. 12-14 in flight time. So it may not have “special content” value and just be mostly a strategic reach value.

  2. Maybe they’ll shed some light on the TV service they’ve been working on? Idk, just a guess. The event location has to be related in some way to whatever they’re announcing. It seems unlikely that they’d go there just to announce new Macs and iPad Pros. They already did the whole education thing recently.

  3. Agree to violently disagree. They’re playful and pretty blatantly echo the Apple of long ago (that many have the original Apple Colors is not a coincidence, either).

When I first saw the variations I imagined they’d tell us the logos had all been created by their machine learning software or something, but there’re several that are clearly done by hand with intention.

I love them, I’m really happy about them too.

  4. Good point. That’s probably all it is. Although still unusual. The October events following the September events are not all that uncommon, and every time Apple did it they had both events in California. So it still stands out to me, even if its just a strategic thing.

  5. It has a much larger seating capacity than Steve Jobs Theater. Don’t know if that matters. Smart people, waddya think?

  6. I’m no smart person, but perhaps they’re inviting a large number of guests (say, full classrooms or teams) whose work will be showcased. “Okeefenokee grade 4, stand up and take a bow!”
