This is simultaneously funny and sad. FYI, no these humpbacks are not “going to kill us!” and there’s no need to call 911 to report there’s a whale under your boat. Finally, for God’s sake, don’t start your damn engines when whales are that close to you.

Wow, can a small group of people react in a more ridiculous way!? It’s embarrassing how stupid other humans are sometimes.
To me makes more sense to be afraid of a giant animal coming that close to you than a tiny spider. And yet, a ton of people are afraid of the latter.
This sounds more like an uncultivated person than stupid. If you don’t know something you just have a guts reaction, and honestly this woman’s reaction makes sense (assuming she doesn’t know anything about whales).
Sure, I get a momentary surprise and a quick adrenaline dump, we all get that at times. But the almost hysterical reaction, calling 911, etc. goes way too far for me. I’m sorry, it’s just so over the top it’s kind of incredible. Or maybe this is just the type of person I can’t stand to be around and don’t have in my life and it’s more normal than I think. Either way, I find it dismaying.
