Moment has come to end daylight saving time in B.C., officials say

Vancouver Courier:

A proposal to stop observing daylight saving time in British Columbia was narrowly approved by Union of B.C. Municipalities delegates Sept. 14.

The resolution said daylight saving time and the resulting time changes twice a year no longer serves a purpose and affects people’s health when time changes.

It may just be my imagination but I’m seeing more and more discussion about this recently. It will still take many years before getting rid of daylight saving time is a widespread talking point but its time may be coming to an end (see what I did there?).

  1. I’ve never understood the passion around this. “But it messes with my sleep!” – it’s a one hour shift. You get more on a trip halfway across N America. ME, I like daylight time in the summer since it’s light out until 9 or 10pm here. If they just moved to make daylight time the time all year around I’d be happy.

  2. And here I used to love B.C. If they cause me to lose my Daylight Saving Time I’m going to be mighty pissed. I depend on that extra hour of light in the evening for half the year to keep me sane.
