Mercedes showed on Tuesday how it is “aggressively” gunning for top spot in upscale battery cars market currently dominated by Tesla, as it unveiled the EQC, its first fully electric car, at an event in Stockholm.
I love Mercedes. To me that brand is all about excellence in everything it does and every car it produces. More than loving the vehicles, I trust Mercedes—they are safe, long-lasting, and technologically advanced. If I were looking for an electric vehicle, that’s the company I would look to first.
And what is the range? If it isn’t at least 300 miles then why buy it over a Tesla?

I don’t agree. Sure, Mercedes had its day, but today it’s highly overrated.
About a year ago, my wife and I visited our MB dealer to see how the GLC and GLA measured up to our Honda CRV. One sit-down in the showroom in each was enough for us. Cheap and ugly was our consensus. Not even worth a test drive.
On the other hand, we’ve been very impressed with our several visits to our Tesla dealer. We’ve test-driven both the S and X, with an extensive drive in the X last year and even trying out the work-in-progress autopilot.
The other thing is: Tesla has been investing very heavily in infrastructure by way of its dealerships and supercharger stations all over the world for years now. MB or any other company would be seriously hard-put to meet or beat Tesla’s efforts.
Our future money in still on Tesla—perhaps with its Model Y, the apparent equivalent to our CRV, which we currently love.

The article says 450km = 280mi which is basically the same as the model X (both are SUVs). I see a couple of other sites that are quoting 200 miles, but I’m not sure where they got that number since Mercedes own site says 450km.
Insane. An article about a new car that doesn’t tell you how much it costs.
Enough with the land yachts, Americans. Must everything be super-sized? That’s my beef. Go anywhere else in the world and the (common commuter) cars are small, as they should be.
