Ford Motor Company reached a major milestone on August 8 as the 10 millionth Mustang rolled off the assembly line at their Detroit plant. Revered as the ultimate symbol of cool since it was first introduced in March 1964, the Mustang has managed to evolve with the times and, today, remains just as relevant as it was in the ’60s. Here, a look back at the iconic American car through the years.
While I liked the 60’s Mustangs, I was never a huge fan of the car in general. That being said, my first car was the 1994 redesign and I loved that car.
I always liked the car’s side details because they looked like a carryover from 1950s space-age googie design.
That’s funny because the only models I liked less than the 1994 redesign were the 1970s Mustangs. The 1994 redesign looked more like a Toyota than a Mustang. It is not surprising to me that you liked it since you prefaced that by saying you were never a huge fan of the car in general. As a fan I viewed the 1994 redesign as model that lost its way.
They really got it right in the more recent generations with a modern muscle car combined with the beautiful stylings of the originals. The latter half of the 80s and into the early 90s were really fun because there was so much power in a relatively small car. My favorite if that run was the LX 5.0 liter convertible. The Shelby models were often amazing in any generation. However, the 2019 Bullitt looks amazing! I feel like it is the embodiment of everything that has ever been nice about a Mustang, or better yet, an idealized version of one.
