Located in Hamburg, Germany, the Largest model train set has a huge total length of 15,400 m (50,525 ft).
I had a train set when I was a kid. This is not that “set”. This is an incredible achievement.

I love stuff like this. I still have my train my dad gave me when I was a kid. He had it when he was a kid. It’s a Lionel O scale made of what feels like solid iron. That engine weighs a ton. Someday maybe I’ll get it restored just for kicks.
My wife and I visited in 2016 and were astounded by the level of detail. If you looked closely you could see things that would make you laugh. In one spot they had a murder scene while another had a couple having sex in the bushes while being spied on by some nuns. They also have a digital board that keeps a running count of visitors by nationality. So many visitors have come through and I most highly recommend it if you ever get to Hamburg.
I went to see it early this year. It is simply incredible. You don’t need to be a model railroad nerd to appreciate the insane work and love that those folks put into this… but it helps. 🙂
I do believe there is a Star Wars relic parked in the airport.
I had a small Lionel O scale set. When I was a kid Lionel had a store in New York with a huge setup running. I loved going there just to ooh and ah at that set.
Astonishing. I’m a long-time fan of the Queens Museum’s Panorama of New York, which I’ve always thought was an incredible achievement. This project makes that one look like a grade-school shoebox diorama.
And it points out what I probably always loved most about toy trains: the miniaturized landscaping.
