This deals with major league baseball and ejections so, needless to say, it’s very NSFW.

Pathetic in my opinion. Send his ass off the field.
There’s context to this. I’d paste a link but that fails here, so… let’s just say that this is payback for Utley’s 2015 slide
A whole lot of history. Utley knew this was coming.
This has been my favourite thing on the internet this week. Well, this and the racoon.
It was two feet off his ass, not at his head. Everyone knew it was coming and the umps were trying to stop it from escalating. Normally he wouldn’t get tossed for a pitch like that.
There’s more context to this incident than just the incident. I’d post a real link but you moderate those and they never make it out of moderation so…
I’ve never in my life heard the expression “our ass is in the jackpot”. I thought a jackpot was a good thing. Anyone else familiar with this particular idiom?
Just because everyone knew it was coming doesn’t make it ok.
I don’t think it makes sense, particularly, any more than some of the things people are saying to him. Most of that back-and-forth seemed low-information, seems to me. These people are not arguing with thoughts and words but with emotions. I suspect if you asked the ump what he meant by that, he’d laugh and say “hell if I know.”
LOL I thought the same thing. I’d never heard it before.
Every major leaguer should be able to take one on the ass for his team.
Which was legal at the time, but thankfully they changed the rule. I bleed Dodger blue, but I have to agree with Collins here. If the umps were going to have a zero tolerance policy in the game, which was fair given the history with Utley, then they absolutely should have expressed that to both managers before the game. Since they didn’t, and since he hadn’t even hit him (just sent a little message) a warning was far more appropriate in the situation.
Oh I agree. Regardless of legality, the Utley slide was nasty and malicious. Nt yeah, the umps should have known retaliation was possible and I agree, they should have mentioned that up front.
