This was all over the news over the weekend. An incredible, selfless, quick thinking act by Mali migrant Mamoudou Gassama, in Paris illegally, climbing a building to rescue a child dangling from a balcony.
The overwhelming social media response brought this to the attention of French President Emmanuel Macron, who praised Gassama as a hero and offered him full French citizenship and a job as a firefighter.
Amazing.
amazing.
the balcony divider only looks six feet tall, why in the hells didn’t the dad or whoever hop over and rescue the kid…weird
Possible that he was holding on to the kid, but couldn’t reach all the way over to pull him in, or maybe if he let go to change his grip or position the kid would fall.
Also hard to tell the time frame. not that hard to enter the building, break down the door of the next door apartment, etc… This looks like he responded in seconds.
My hands were sweating watching that.
The Loop tends to aggressively moderate URLs, but if you search for Mamoudou Gassama, there are news articles suggesting the father is in a thicket of legal trouble. Not scaling the divider is the least of his misjudgements (apparently, playing too much Pokemon Go means he left the child unattended for a long period of time).
