I agree with Lory’s thoughts on these two news apps—a lot of it comes down to personal preference. I have been enjoying the local news and Boston Bruins stories in the Google app, but there’s a lot to like about Apple’s app as well.
Apple News vs. Google News
I subscribe to the New York Times, The Washington Post, and the New Yorker. I got the WAPO through iTunes, the others directly.
I have associated iOS apps on my iPhone and iPad, all logged in and working.
When I run Apple News, it only knows about my WAPO subscription, no doubt because I got it though iTunes but it sure would be great if it could figure out that I’m subscribed to the others as well by way of a single sign in.
I enjoy Apple News, but it can be *painfully* slow. Not unlike the Mac App Store.
