Point and shoots are definitely on their last legs but there are still some very specific situations where I recommend them to very specific people. Good to see my favourite “tough” camera, the Olympus TG-5, came out on top.
As an aside, I didn’t know the DP Review folks were based out of Alberta, Canada. The scenery (such as it is) in the video reaffirms my desire to never live in Alberta ever again.
UPDATE: DP Review isn’t based in Alberta. The talent in the video are formerly of The Camera Store TV (I thought I recognized them) who are now part of DP Review which is based in Seattle, Washington.
I’m glad you outed the G5 as the best. Saved me almost 20 minutes of the annoying narrator’s ramblings.
I’ve had the Nikon for years. It has rafted down the Green River, played in the surf in Mexico, SCUBAd to 60 feet in the Caribbean, and hiked several hundred miles in the Colorado and New Mexico backcountry. I love it. It has not let me down, and I have a collection of amazing memories.
In another life, I was a photojournalist. I used Nikon equipment back then as well. Good stuff.
Only the videos are done in Alberta, but true enough, there isn’t a single tree or even a hill until the BC border.
LOL Well, that’s not true. Canmore/Banff are gorgeous and quite tree filled. 🙂
