A special “Decade Collection” range of Beats Headphones are currently being promoted by online retail merchants ahead of scheduled availability on June 4, suggesting Apple will officially announce the collection during its keynote at the Worldwide Developers Conference.
I’ve never been a big fan of Beats—I just don’t think they sound good.
I’m liking the Studio2 and Powerbeats3 units I have, but they’re definitely for people who insist on bass uber alles.
It’s hard to imagine a good argument for announcing headphones at WWDC unless they’ve got nothing exciting for developers.
“Look under your chair! You get Beats headphones! And you get Beats headphones! And you get Beats headphones!”
You’re right. I wasn’t cynical enough. Bribery always works. 🙂
They really aren’t that anymore. When the line launched, they were Jimmy Iovine flavored bass thumpers. The more bass the better. Under Apple, they’re much more balanced now, with what I think is just the right amount of bass influence for today’s popular music.
They’re not the best choice for jazz, classical, and acoustic driven music, but for rock and hip-hop, they’re quite good now.
