The Pythons were inspired by the Goons and others, and they in turn have inspired much of today’s comedy in some way.
I have not laughed at some of their skits…

People. Shawn is channelling the pythons. Practically every word of this is funny, and so is Shawn’s comment, if you simply read it back to yourself, in Cleese’s voice, with the appropriate level of insouciance.
