Apple’s official YouTube channel has posted these four new HomePod videos that are likely coming to a TV screen near you. What do you think of them? As expected by everyone who is paying attention, Apple’s focus, at least inititally, is on the music.

In Australia, you won’t get much change out of $500, and by not much, I mean $1, add another $59 to that for Applecare. I think I might wait and see what happens with version 2.0…

But what if you’re into acoustic guitar? Or classical?
Sure you can’t reference every music genre. But yeesh, all four ads are the same.

But it is not a problem.
There is down-tuned and Atonal guitar modes, the same with classical/modern composition European, Indian and Japanese and Gamelan for example.

For some reason the HomePod ads that featured the music of mimes didn’t pan out.
its amazing how every time ads come out, the comment sites light up with those proclaiming how awful they are, worst ads ever, etc. theres just so much hysteria and panic whenever apple launches something, its rather insane what happens to people. would be a great topic for some psych grad — why people lose their goddam minds when it comes to apple.
Or Gregorian chants, even. Yeah, huge market opportunities being overlooked. 😉
How many latter-decade ads for music services or devices have you ever seen that used acoustic guitar or classical to carry the message?
Now I want new screensavers.
I know this sounds like an overkill use case, but if I could play CBC Radio reliably though any device (Echo, HomePod, etc) then I’d be thrilled.

There are people with HUGE record collection (vinyl records mostly), people who I think are not iTunes regulars, will this be practical for them?
Will third parties (phonographic players makers, modern turntables …) be able to make their product work with this?
I mean this is a product for audiophiles.
Apple does have balls, so people, most people see it as a sign of cockiness.
But Apple needs doing things differently.
It is a necessity.
