On Wednesday, at the International Conference on Cyber Security in Manhattan, FBI forensic expert Stephen Flatley lashed out at Apple, calling the company “jerks,” and “evil geniuses” for making his and his colleagues’ investigative work harder. For example, Flatley complained that Apple recently made password guesses slower, changing the hash iterations from 10,000 to 10,000,000.
“At what point is it just trying to one up things and at what point is it to thwart law enforcement?” he added. “Apple is pretty good at evil genius stuff.”
At what point is it just Apple trying to protect its customers from nefarious forces that, sadly nowadays, include governments?
But they are they evil stable geniuses?
So, were the FBI to use iPhones, the FBI itself would want them to be less secure so that it’s easier for foreign agents to access sensitive data? Makes sense to me.
Wow, this really is Trump’s administration, isn’t it. I’m surprised doo doo heads or shithead comments were not used. After all, there are shithole countries. Ugh.
Seems like the swamp waters have engulfed the FBI as well. Lots of draining, airing out, and soil redemption are in order.
Have the FBI completely forgotten who they serve?
If Americans want privacy, then Americans get privacy, period.
Perhaps, Flatley would prefer the FBI overthrow the government & burn the constitution, just so he can speed up his workflow.
Strong words from a guy who sounds as though he’s wearing a clip-on tie that matches his server-room pallor.
Perhaps he should focus on tightening up his own ship’s security before he throws spitballs at anyone else’s.
Have FBI employees always been allowed to speak this carelessly in public?
