Created and written by Moore, along with Fargo co-executive producers Matt Wolpert and Ben Nedivi, the untitled series explores what would have happened if the global space race had never ended. Tall Ship Prods.’ Moore and Maril Davis executive produce with Wolpert and Nedivi.
Ronald D. Moore was one of the creators and main writers of the excellent Battlestar Galactica. I’ve got high hopes for this one. Fingers crossed.
How excellent was Battlestar Galactica? Watch the video below to see what happens if you start watching it. And if you liked the video, click here to watch the second half, which brings some recognizable Battlestar faces into the action.
I saw the news about Moore yesterday, and was pleased to see it. I’d had no idea Moore (and, in part, Ira Stephen Behr) was responsible for Outlander, which means I should probably check it out.
As for his Galactica, it was a terrific reboot. At least until around the middle of the second season, after which it became something of a meandering victim of its own success. Too many episodes, too little story.
Something not too dissimilar happened when I started watching The Wire. Much too the annoyance of my wife. I finally rewatched it with her and she was like, “Ohhh, now I get it.”
Not only the BSG reboot, but Star Trek Next Generation, Deep Space 9 and Voyager. This guy is prolific. He was a friend of a co-worker, and I’ve heard some pretty interesting stories about him. (Good guy, by the way.)
Moore also co-wrote a couple of the Trek movies, too. He’s said publicly that the Trek franchise, while giving him a huge start and helping him do a lot of great work, ultimately became too limiting for the kinds of stories he wanted to tell. I like that.
Don’t forget Andromeda. Or at least the interesting years of Andromeda.
What, that embarrassing, weak-tea Roddenberry leftover show with the Farscape aliens? That was Robert Hewitt Wolfe.
Shit, you’re right.
But I loved the basic story/crew of the first few seasons. 🙂
I tried. Gave it almost as much of a chance as I did “Earth: Final Disappointment.”
I want those hours back.
Well, we can see eye to eye on EFC.
