I’d have liked to be on the exit leg. For one, I wouldn’t be stranded for who knows how long due to not making it out. But it would also be an epic experience.

I want to be there–in the cockpit flying. The pilots did an amazing job keeping it between the bands of the storm, and, having flown close to storms before, I know how amazing that view is. Very humbling.
Being a passenger is not nearly as enjoyable. You cannot see the full sky around you. You cannot see the instruments. You cannot see the radar image showing you the route out of that mess. But in the cockpit, all of that is at your command. And just like any other profession, when you meet a challenge head-on and are successful, it’s a wonderful feeling.
