1. Turn off my phone to read a webpage? No, thank you.

2. I just had to turn on airplane mode on my phone to read it. (Interesting read and concept, and I’ve long worried about the dangers of the distraction of constant notifications.)

3. Some good points made, including one or two that suggest a connection between constant distractions and the ability to learn new procedures that are vulnerable to those distractions.

How many meetings have we all sat in, among people for whom information had to be repeated several times before they actually absorbed it?

4. Ahh, I thought it was just a simple attempt to get people to pay attention to the real world instead of their screens. No such thing as ‘airplane mode’ on a Mac….

5. On your Mac, turn off WiFi. Same effect, assuming you are not wired to a LAN. Just remember, don’t reload the page, it takes a few secs, but the page polls for a connection, changes context when the online state changes.
