Glen Campbell, the indelible voice behind 21 Top 40 hits including “Rhinestone Cowboy,” “Wichita Lineman” and “By the Time I Get to Phoenix,” died Tuesday. He was 81. A rep for Universal Music Group, Campbell’s record label, confirmed the singer’s death to Rolling Stone. During a career that spanned six decades, Campbell sold over 45 million records. In 1968, one of his biggest years, he outsold the Beatles.
So sad. Much respect, Glen.
I highly recommend watching the documentary on The Wrecking Crew, it shows Campbell in the early days as well as an amazing group of studio musicians.
The documentary you mention is really food. Also, try, “I’ll be Me”, a documentary about Glen’s slow decline into dementia.

Yes, I’ve seen that. It’s great although what I like better about the Wrecking Crew piece is that it shows Campbell (and the others) less as stars, more as the excellent musicians they are (or were).
It is available on Netflix. Another one that’s excellent that might still be streamable on Netflix is the History of the Eagles. Great story (not about Campbell so off topic).

I own both of these on DVD and they’re amazingly good.
Dowd was the first engineer at Atlantic under Ertegun and remains one of the greatest engineers in history. Amazing story.
