Hands-on with iOS 11’s new Document Scanner

Apple Insider takes you on a tour of the new document scanner, a new Notes feature that ships in iOS 11.

One thing that struck me is the connection to ARKit, the ability to recognize objects. ARKit is such a huge innovation. It’s impact will be felt far and wide.

  1. I’d occasionally used Scanbot for some of this functionality. I suppose it was inevitable that Apple would Sherlock it.

  2. I’m a Scanbot user as well, but I mainly use it to scan QR codes created by a Chrome extension on my Windows machine at work so I can get the pages to my iOS devices. (A couple fewer steps than cut-open email-fill out email fields-paste-send.)

I think this scanning has the QR capability, too, so Notes and Files will do what I do nicely.
