AT&T blocked data sent by Apple’s FaceTime software, Comcast has interfered with Internet traffic generated by certain applications, and ISPs have rerouted users’ web searches to websites they didn’t request or expect,” said EFF Senior Staff Attorney Mitch Stoltz. “These are just some examples of ISPs controlling our Internet experience. Users pay them to connect to the Internet, not decide for them what they can see and do there.”
The FCC can’t seriously do this.
They can, but luckily these things take some serious time.
Hopefully by then we can get our government a little more balanced out, ahem.

Even for those that do have a choice, its likely between one of the three mentioned. In my case, between Comcast or Verizon. Before that it was between Cox and Verizon.
ISP’s are the biggest problem, we need more options and soon.
Anyone who thinks they are “cutting the cord” may want to take a look at what’s connected to your modem.
With Ajit Pai at the tiller, they can, and likely will do this. What’s worse, is that this is likely not where he, and the republican majority, will stop.
Jim, if you believe that you’ve mercifully managed not to follow the epic disaster that is Trump’s administration. Please tell me which hole you’ve been hiding in so that I may join you.
They can and they will.
But I’m an optimist. The backlash and correction will solidify Net Neutrality some day, as soon as the current administration is thrown on the garbage heap of history. Being so obviously anti-consumer can’t continue forever before even the most out of touch amongst us realizes they’ve been had.
I hope they do! If you want to fix this, a new law is the answer. Title II Net Neutrality is a HUGE threat to the free and open internet. It should have never been implemented that way.
Congress should be handling the regulation, not the FCC.
Congress does handle it. They pass the laws, the president signs it, and the president’s Executive branch enforces it. The FCC is acting within laws as written now, and whether Congress fixes anything or passes something to change what the FCC can interpret to do is up to Congress.
Good luck with that since this Congress can only pass things making special holidays or pay raises.
That’s actually my biggest worry. This do-nothing Congress will just let the current FCC head run rampant since they pretty much agree with him, so they can focus instead on not doing anything.
I’ll expect to see reinstated net neutrality right after we get true campaign finance reform and re-regulate investment banks.
Don’t forget all the lobbyist money this Congress is being paid to help this crap happen.
