There might come a day when, heaven forbid, Apple CEO Tim Cook cannot perform his duties for some reason. As a result, like every corporation, Apple has a succession plan for its CEO. What might Apple’s look like?
Interesting speculation.
Jeff Williams is probably the leading candidate because of his COO position, if it’s not him, we’d see him leave the company in due time (as typically happens at other companies when the COO is pulled aside and said, they’re not getting the position).
If it’s possible that Schiller would get the position, I think a better bet would be Craig Federighi, who’s done most of the heavy lifting at WWDC events these days.
Please, anyone but Cue.
I’d rather see them promote from within. Federighi, perhaps.
It’s popular to bash Cue on the forums, but none of us have any true idea of his performance within Apple. After all, he is one of the very top executives, in pay and responsibility. I really have a hard time believing Cook would suffer fools gladly, especially since he showed his willingness to fire top people like Scott Forstall. Cue’s on-stage personal is a goofy one, but I have no doubt Cook and the board would fire him if he weren’t doing what they wanted him to be doing.
He should pick Scott Forstall.
Cue is at least partially responsible for Planet of the Apps. Enough said.
