Today I Found Out:
What happens to clothes after being dropped off at the dry cleaners is a mystery to most. We know that our clothes come back a whole lot cleaner than when we dropped them off, but how? And who first got the bright idea to clean clothing without water?
Did you know dry cleaning isn’t actually dry?
Skip to 5:20 or so if you don’t care about the history, although it was interesting, it may not be to everyone.
Oh, that history is important.
Since when information is hazardous?
Sometimes my girlfriend used to get her clothes back before they were dry. But I’d already suspected it involved fast-drying solvents. That was the only possible way it could have worked.
Never said it wasn’t, I actually said “although it was interesting, it may not be to everyone.”
In case someone just wanted the process.
I think that is an appropriate answer, I can’t tell. Your last sentence is not written properly.
Are you saying the information is important because it is about hazardous information or are you suggesting I am saying that this information is hazardous in some way and suggesting it isn’t?
In either case, no that’s not what I am saying..
…although it was interesting, it may not be to everyone.Hence – Since when information (the video in this case) is hazardous?
It just bothers me when people try to dictate what is best for me. It irks me.
My parents will tell you that.
Since when is information – such as JH offered – hazardous?
Indeed, it is a question.
You can clearly see that my brain is wired differently, English is not my first language.
If I ever have need of a dry-cleaner, it’s usually because I need to put on clothes I don’t want to wear.
I understand. I’ve been irked myself seeing someone say something I thought was a litttle dictating or preachy. But I meant nothing other than what was intended. Not just for you of course. But for anyone. Certainly you viewed the whole video, which was quite good. But I also was thinking while watching it “when is he getting to the part about HOW this works” and thought others may as well.
With the internet and info everywhere sometimes you don’t have time and just want to get to the point. My comment was for those people, clearly not you.
Let’s get tuxedos.
Considering my track record for being part of weddings I needed to wear a tux for, that might not be such a great idea. :/
Indeed!
You sound like those CG pros people send reels to.
Keep it short and to the point, otherwise I will not watch it, they will tell you.

Sadly… it’s true, many won’t. Short attention span is getting short……er.
But at least we know not to become dry cleaners or else we may get cancer from the chemicals used! It pays to be patient.
I think our replies may actually be longer than the video at this point, so have a great weekend.
I thought that was likely the case. It’s interesting that people who speak different languages actually also think differently as a result. Combine that with the natural human tendency to see one’s own culture as the “normal” one and it easy to make harmful, improper judgments. Important for all of us to keep in mind.
My experience is a little aberrant.
I was borne in a little country on the West cost of Africa – Guinea-Bissau, it has 13 ethnic group, each with its own language, I speak none.
My parents are from different ethnic groups, I do speak only creole, which is a mix of Portuguese and some local languages.
I learned Portuguese reading books at home and later at school. So I still think in Creole, which has no grammar, and often I translate to Portuguese, and from Portuguese to English (which I learned in high school in Bissau) all in real time.
Regarding culture, I know more about Japanese avant rock and noise than anything African (and only here in Europe I was able to get African literature). And most africans are this ignorant about themselves.
Sad but true.
