With construction on the new Chicago outlet winding down, construction workers briefly put an Apple logo on the top center of the building, making it resemble an enormous MacBook Air, at least temporarily.
That’s pretty cool.
Apple Store roof is a giant MacBook
It is. Some real Apple fans there.
Battery life?
Approved.
Depends on the weather.
And the best part is that you can lift the roof up without having to hold the store down.
Came across some people dismissing this as a waste, that no one would see this detail.
First, Apple would know what the roof looks like and why would they want it looking like ass? They spend time engineering the insides of barely repairable laptops to be amazingly gorgeous because they want the inside to be functional but also look good.
Second, this is the friggan birthplace of the skyscraper. It’s Chicago, of course there are going to be thousands people up above it who will have views of it every day. And it will be in Flyover Mode asap for everyone to stumble upon.
Frankly, I think things like Flyover Mode might force architects to start paying attention to the appearance of their roof. I know Wells Fargo tossed their logos on the roof of their new Minneapolis towers next to the new Vikings stadium to be noticed by the blimps during game day. But if you hit 3D Mode in Minneapolis right now you will catch the giant Wells Fargo logos facing towards the sky … er … the Flyover viewer.

That’s precisely the sort of design Microsoft and Samsung would do. That’s not Apple.
That sounds like Microsoft and Samsung. Not an Apple thing.
