The season premiere is finally here! Watch this groundbreaking new series about apps and their creators. Featuring Jessica Alba, Gwyneth Paltrow, Gary Vaynerchuk, and will.i.am.

The first episode is available here for a limited time. Join Apple Music to get new episodes weekly.

The feel of the show is like Shark Tank meets The Voice, all built around app developers looking for funding. You can watch the first episode, for a limited time, on Apple’s official Planet of the Apps site.

  1. it’s produced well. I was afraid it would look like some of the cheesy Microsoft productions. But who’s the audience for this? I can’t imagine there are enough hardcore geeks out there to make this worth the production expense. And can’t imagine anyone outside the industry is going to find this interesting. It’s just so dry and boring.

  2. I suspect the audience for this (and for Carpool Karaoke) is other tv production companies that Apple will be trying to court when its tv efforts get more serious.

  3. That’s an interesting take.

Maybe there is still room for Apple to do what I thought they were going to make: App developer spotlights. Apparently they have hired writers for editorial content about developers and apps in the App Store. I understand them going for something they think might have a broader appeal like Shark Tank has, but maybe the App Store thing is a sign we can hope for some more geeky content as well.

  4. I think there’s plenty of room for Apple to create great television in several categories, but it seems to me that they weren’t going to debut their in-house effort with prestige productions like the notional next “Breaking Bad” without already having the kind of attention that Netflix and Amazon Prime have.
