The big story is customer satisfaction with AirPods is extremely high. 98% of AirPod owners said they were very satisfied or satisfied. Remarkably, 82% said they were very satisfied. The overall customer satisfaction level of 98% sets the record for the highest level of satisfaction for a new product from Apple. When the iPhone came out in 2007, it held a 92% customer satisfaction level, iPad in 2010 had 92%, and Apple Watch in 2015 had 97%.
That’s an absolutely incredible number. I’ve been using my AirPods since they were introduced last September and love them.
I walk a lot on busy, dirty, and poorly-paved NYC streets everyday, and my AirPods fall out of my ears at the worst times possible.. 🙁
But at least they’re durable! They only have a few dents and scratches after about 10 drops in the last 3 months.

I thought that I’d like them, but I absolutely love them. They’ve only come out when I pulled a sweater over my head.
Since I bought them I’ve increased my podcast and audible books listening time significantly. I like them when I’m making supper and I can walk around the kitchen, dining area, and deck/bbq and leave the phone plugged in some place. Pulling them out to talk to someone is simple. And most of all I really don’t miss the cords and tangles, etc.
The only nit pick that I have is the double tap thing. It kind of hurts so I never use it. “Yo Siri” works just fine.
Not one day goes by that I’m not carrying my AirPods in my front pocket. I was and remain amazed how how much I like them and use them constantly. I have several noise cancelling headphones (Bose) and though I use them still, my default is the far less expensive AirPods daily.
They dont fit my SO’s ears as well as mine, so we picked up some ear hooks for them. There are many to choose from:

I’m looking forward to my first pair. I’ll do with them what I’ve done with pretty much all my similarly-shaped headphones: add foam rubber cushions.
I’ve been put off by the lack of a remote, but almost ordered a pair when my wired EarPods went bad a couple weeks ago. The still-long lead time killed my impulsivity and I just ordered replacement EarPods, but the giant pile of good I’m reading about these things is going to have me buying them before long.

I’ve been using them since they went on sale, and I find them a very mixed bag. There’s a few things positive to say, and a lot negative. The biggest problem is how clumsy they are to interact with, both in terms of the tapping and Siri. What I find interesting is that the survey only really asks about the features you’re unlikely to have complaints about. It’s a survey designed to get a good result. In this era of people complaining about faked and skewed news, we need to call people out on this.
Double tap is very hit and miss for me. I try all sorts of cadences and generally have to try repeatedly to get a response, which means I’m tapping on eardrums which quickly start complaining.
Gonna check the reviews between the 2nd and 4th and pick one.. Thanks so much for the exhaustive recommendations!
Setting them to play/pause iso the painfully slow and mostly useless Siri (useless for me because it still can’t deal with mixed languages at all, starting the right English track using German is absolutely impossible, and setting it to English tracks do work fine, but it won’t recognize any contacts unless I pronounce them wrong etc.), now add a triple-tap for skip and I’m set.
Never fell out of my ears, but handling these slippery things with cold or wet hands is a bit of a challenge… they could use a bit more grip IMO.
But these niggles aside, they are absolutely fantastic. Sound is fine for everyday use, battery life is better than advertised and the sheer convenience is remarkable. I was a very happy user of the much bigger Bowers & Wilkins P7 Wireless, but I can’t bring myself to lug these around any longer. Yes, they sound worlds better, but with all the ambient noise outside, I don’t really get a significant benefit from them.
My 16 year old son absolutely LOVES his. I am not sure I have seen him without them in his ears since he got them at Christmas. I have never heard him say a single negative about them. True love. Well done Apple.
