A supposedly opulent music festival on a private island in the Bahamas, which was plugged as an unprecedented V.I.P. event by Instagram influencers including Kendall Jenner and Emily Ratajkowski, descended into dysfunction and disarray as soon as it began on Thursday and has since been postponed indefinitely, organizers said.
Sounds like an incredible scam. Tickets sold for $1,000 to $12,000 for the festival.
Seems like another example of “how hard could it be” thinking. Financial or media success is not the same as competence, as we are seeing borne out.
Being in a band and getting to see behind the scenes at some events both big and small… putting on a festival is HARD. And I could only imagine how much harder to do a super high-end festival in another country where everything has to be shipped in.
Yeah, this sounds like a scam. For as high end as this was to be, with the ticket and add-on prices they were charging, they could and should have hired a top event planner to do this. It sounds like they tried to wing it which is idiotic.
If they knew it wasn’t going to be ready, why didn’t they let people know BEFORE they got on the plane to go there?
It doesn’t sound like a scam to me, it sounds like it was poorly mismanaged.
