Apple today released a revised version of iTunes 12.6, which appears to eliminate a hidden option that may have accidentally been built into the software release.
Shortly after the original release of iTunes 12.6 on Tuesday, a reddit user discovered a “Show on Profile Page” toggle on a Playlist edit page.
Apple is quite clearly looking at social networking in iTunes once again. It makes me cringe to think that they are still trying to be social with music. I suppose it’s another place they can push artists that they pay millions of dollars to have exclusive rights to their music.
Their attempt to get into social networking sucked. Ping sucked a lot. But that was one attempt, and I have faith they can come back and do it better. Personally, I’ve been itching to share my playlists with people. Right now, the best option I have for that is to send links for each of my individual playlist to each individual friend. It’s a clunky system, and it’d be great if I could just send a friend my profile instead. I’m sure plenty of other people out there are making great playlists in iTunes too. It’d be nice if there were an easy way to share them publicly. For example, if I could search my favorite artist, and see a huge list of public playlists that feature that artist, I’d have so much more reason to spend time in iTunes. People like sharing music, and there’s so much potential for iTunes to facilitate that. Apple just need to find the right way to do it.
Music is social. There is a reason bands like playing in front of live audiences and fans like hearing their favorite bands live. There is a reason mix tapes were a thing and DJs have jobs. One of the biggest problems with the music industry is the lack of good social platforms for individuals to organically share music they love. That void gets filled by marketing people and producers leading to a very sterile and homogeneous product.
I miss Ping. Apple Music is great but I miss seeing what friends are listening too. I could care less about connect though.
Google is paying 97$ per hour! Work for few hours and have longer with friends & family! !mj458d:

Music is social and Apple would be incredibly foolish to not realize it and not make efforts to participate in that space.
One of the best things about Spotify in comparison to Apple Music is how easy it is to follow your friends and subscribe to playlists they create. It’s something Apple Music really lacks in my opinion, and it’s a shame because I do like the Apple Music app more than I like the Spotify app, especially in terms of adding music to your library and managing that.
If it’s just publishing playlists like Spotify I don’t think this is a terrible idea. Grumpy old Jim!
That’s SoundShare. And it’s not tied to just one streaming service, it works with Apple Music, Spotify, Deezer, Youtube and iTunes. In other words, you can see what your friends are listening to, doesn’t matter which service you both use. Even cross platform collaborative playlists can be done. https://soundshareapp.com
Take a look at SoundShare. It allows you to share, collaborate and see what your friends are listening to, doesn’t matter which music service they use. https://soundshareapp.com
Feel free to take a look at SoundShare. It’s free and it allows you to do just that. Share the songs you love, regardless of the service you use. https://soundshareapp.com
That’s what we try to solve with SoundShare. We try to offer a way to people share the songs they love the most. We even allow cross platform collaborative playlists. https://soundshareapp.com
You can do this with SoundShare. You can even do this while using Apple Music and your friends are on Spotify for example. https://soundshareapp.com
But I want to do it in iTunes, without another service.
