Self-driving bus being tested in San Francisco

A pair of $250,000 autonomous buses began driving around an empty San Francisco Bay Area parking lot on Monday, preparing to move onto a local public road in California’s first pilot program for a self-driving vehicle without steering wheel or human operator.

I’m not convinced the technology is ready yet, but okay.

  1. The article title is misleading. The test is actually being conducted in San Ramon, CA, 36 miles away from San Francisco. It’s actually equally close to the Central Valley as it is to the actual city of San Francisco.

  2. Google is paying 97$ per hour! Work for few hours and have longer with friends & family! !mj354d:

  3. I’m a bit disappointed to read that the buses were not designed by an American company. This is stuff we could be leading.

  4. Human error in this case was attributed to the driver not stopping the car because the automated system failed to stop. Still an automated system failure compounded by human error after the fact.
