New 5G networks are expected to provide speeds at least 10 times and up to maybe 100 times faster than today’s 4G networks, with the potential to connect at least 100 billion devices with download speeds that can reach 10 gigabits per second.
Those are impressive speeds.
I don’t know… like gigabit to the home, it feels like this is a gimmick with little practical use. Yay, I can download at 10g/sec… but if any link between me and the content is slower, that becomes the effective max speed. And.. I can Snapchat at 10gig! Read Facebook! Tweet!… oh wait, none of those are really speed dependent.
How long will it take a 10Gbps connection to reach the throttling threshold, a minute?
You can stream to twitch while your family members do the netflix! You can make backups to the cloud in hours rather than weeks!
If that.
