Good stuff all the way around. Going out on a limb, I assume that a driverless car would do the same thing. At least, I hope that’s the case.
This is very good news for the Tesla owner, the other driver whose life he saved, and for Elon Musk and company.
Amazing story! Using your own vehicle to stop an out of control car must have taken an incredible amount of courage and skill.
This is great point in case for how autonomous vehicles could potentially save lives. If the Passat was autonomous, the driver having a stroke wouldn’t have created a dangerous situation (outside of the driver’s stroke). With the proper automation, the Passat could have realized there was an emergency, contacted emergency services, and drove the unconscious driver directly to a hospital or met an ambulance.
I wonder if, instead of a driverless car dong the same thing, if instead health monitoring equipment could be used and actually change course to a hospital and notify ahead of time of the condition of the patient.
All praise to that driver for his heroism.
I think it’s interesting that Musk stressed doing damage to his car without saying anything about, say, risking his life.
