If you head onto Apple’s online store and tap through to the Apple AirPods page, you’ll find (at least in the US) something like this:

Note the ship schedule, 6 weeks out. From today, that’d be February 27th. A long, long wait.
But. Word is, Best Buy is shipping AirPods within 3 days from ordering.
There’s this tweet. And this one.
If you go on the Best Buy site, the ship date is March 7th. No inherent promise that they’ll ship in 3 days. But given the experience of others, might be a path to consider.
I bought AirPods on Dec 23rd at an Apple Store that just happened to have them in stock (for a few minutes anyways). Somehow I ended up giving them to my daughter for Christmas. My AirPods will be delivered February 22nd.
Conclusion: the next delivery date for AirPods is February 27th. Unless you have children.
Just be aware that BestBuy’s return policy says they won’t take returns of opened headphones. So you’d better be sure those things fit in your ears before buying.
These need to go way down in price! I’m not spending over 160 and then accidentally lose them. Apple should really make it’s products affordable because if Trump gets his way everything will be made in the US and all the prices will go up and since trickle down economics doesn’t work, nobody will be able to afford Apple except the top 1%. Apple will go out of business!
Nonsense. 160 isn’t even top of the line — that’s 200+. Just because they aren’t free doesn’t mean they’re too expensive.
Apple isn’t going out of business for at least the next several decades.
Ordered from Best Buy (1/16). Delivered today (2/8) — 23 days. (So, not 3 days, but not 46, either.)
Thanks for the warning! Where did you find out about this? I can’t find this limitation mentioned anywhere on the Best Buy website… Can you point me to something?
I called Best Buy’s 1-800 number, and after being on hold for about a half hour (while the agent researched their website, documentation, and asked supervisors), I was assured that AirPods were treated like any other electronics purchase — 15-day return policy.
Headphones are listed under the “Returnable within 30 Days – Only if Unopened” section on the bestbuy.ca return policy page: http://www.bestbuy.ca/en-CA/help/returns-and-exchanges-policy/hc1075.aspx
Ah. Must be a Canada-specific policy. Nothing like that on the U.S. site.
