This is a great idea. The Lexar JumpDrive is a short cable with a USB connector on one end and a lightning connector on the other. Plug the USB side into your computer and copy a few movies over to the now connected flash drive.
Disconnect, then plug the lightning end into your iPhone. Launch the Lexar Mobile Manager app and play the movies from the flash drive. Perfect for bringing along a photo library or movie collection without clogging up your phone’s main storage.

My problem has never been raw data–photos, music, whatever. It’s the apps. Apps are the problem. (I foolishly bought a 16GB iPhone 6, because I was always fine with 16GB on my iPhone 4. I’ll never buy the bottom storage tier again.)
I picked up one of these on a whim, and while not realy disapointed (it does what it says it does), there was minor diapointment and one pie in the sky wish born.
The disapointment is that the iPad version of the app is just a blown up iPhone app. It won’t even rotate to landscape view.
The wish is that someone would make one of these USB app work as a document provider, so you could access the files in other apps via a share sheet. Even if it only worked with the app’s storage it eliminate a step and allow multiple file actions. Right now the only way to move an entire folder from the app is one file at a time.
But as I said, it does what it claims, and the price was resonable, so I’m happy to have one. On the other hand I would have payed more for an even better product.

What we need is to be able to point my iPhone’s iTunes to an iTunes database on an external (wireless) drive, just like you can for the Mac. THAT would be great!
