Millennial International: Sponsor a Millennial Today

This is hilarious and sad all at the same time. An entire generation that expects everything to be handed to them.

  1. Hey, I almost dipset on this one.. but the struggle is real dude. It me. I’m v angry TBH that you are not hundo p on our plight. You think JOMO is funny? Sorry not sorry, but don’t be phubbing cuz I can’t even. Seriously. JK

  2. I work in tech and I work with millennials everyday. My kids are millennials. All of them work hard, start businesses, take chances, create new ideas, and teach me things everyday.

You want to find a bunch of whiny, the world owes me a favour group of people? Look at middle aged white guys. Like me.

  3. Unfortunately this isn’t true, Jim, and is actually making light of a pretty serious global problem (full disclosure, I’m an early millennial myself, who luckily managed to get on the job market before 2008, which is when the real crunch happened). There’s a lot of evidence out there that this current generation is paying for the extravagances of the ones immediately prior, especially the boomers. Now, just to be clear, I’m not trying to place blame here, just outline an undeniable set of economic circumstances. Most millennials have it tougher than any generation since WW2. The best theory I’ve found for the underlying forces at work is here: https://paularbair.wordpress.com/2016/07/05/brexit-the-populist-surge-and-the-crisis-of-complexity/
It’s pretty dense, but considering it was written before the Trump victory I think it’s eerily prophetic and I expect a lot of it to continue to unfold as the author predicts. It’s not a rosy picture, and I think we can at least have the grace not to mock the generation that stands to suffer the most as a result.

  4. More generalizations about an entire population segment. Remember when it was Gen-X in the crosshairs?

  5. As parents of millennials, I think this whole theme of criticizing millennials is a century long tradition of industrialized society. When we are young, we criticize the past generation of being out of touch and for making a mess of the world. When we get older, we call the next generation lazy and ignorant.

    Pass on the popcorn.

  6. Relax, its just a joke.
It does help that the millenial hipster stereotype is really, really easy to make fun of.

  7. Jim, I have immense respect for you. But come on – this millennial hating garbage is “totes cray cray.” But really, who is it that elected Tonald Drump? Hint: it’s not millennials.

  8. “The children now love luxury. They have bad manners, contempt for authority; they show disrespect for elders and love chatter in place of exercise.”

  9. Thanks for this. I don’t see agism as any better than sexism or racism. The only difference is you outgrow agism, so can stop worrying about it.

That is, until you’re really old and it comes back.
