Coinciding with Apple’s new photo book, “Designed by Apple in California”, Jony Ive did an interview with Japanese design firm Casa Brutus.

Love the book, but … Apple is really taking its sweet time in updating so many products. Meanwhile, Jony is working on so many distractions.
Like? Apple can either increase their output, while reducing their quality and identity, or continue to do what sets Apple apart from competitors. If you mean minor refreshes, like for the Mac Pro, I’d say Jony’s involvement is much more limited. This book isn’t the reason why the Mac Pro or Mac Mini haven’t been refreshed. If you mean the Thunderbolt display, well then I’d argue that Apple actually considers THAT a distraction, and has decided to set it aside for now.
So glad you don’t work for Apple.
Who else in the world is doing the research, design, and product development on the scale that Apple is doing? Who else in the world is having the impact and enriching so many lives of their customers anywhere near as profoundly as Apple? No one. Period. It’s hard to imagine what else I would have done these past three decades without my Apple tools.
Sorry but editing a picture book isn’t that “distracting”.
Must admit, almost cried. Almost. I miss the old days. But still, I look forward to what’s ahead.
Agreed. Apple must get back to its core. No pun intended.
