Phil Schiller talks about the new MacBook Pro and addresses criticism

I would like to pull one quote from this Q&A, but I think it’s important to read the entire interview.

  1. An SD card slot is cumbersome? Yeah, and Phil Schiller speaks the truth. Spoken like a true marketing guy.

  2. I disagree. He doesn’t address the criticism so much as he shrugs it off. He says he was surprised at how much there criticism it was, and then he basically says it’s not valid criticism. It’s just that Apple fans are really passionate. There’s nothing for Apple to rethink. He also mistakes the high sales for people deep down loving the machines. No doubt some do. And no doubt some skeptics will get their machines and like them more than they expected. But at least some of that sales spike is pent-up demand from people who wanted to upgrade for a long time but were put off by the stagnation of the MBP line. We all know those people are out there. The problem with failing to acknowledge the sales bump due to pent up demand can be seen with the “falling” sales after the iPhone 6 and 6-plus. Oh well.

  3. I read it 3 times. Didn’t see any addressing of criticism; just normal marketroid happyspeak about decisions made and insinuations that loyal customers who disagree with those decisions are just “resistant to change”.
