Apple is planning to introduce new Macs at an Oct. 27 event, sources confirmed to Recode.
The move had long been expected, given that the company released MacOS Sierra last month but had yet to introduce any new computer models sporting the software. It also comes just in time for Apple to have the new products on sale for the full holiday season.
And:
The Mac event is expected to take place at or near Apple’s Cupertino campus rather than in San Francisco, where the company held many recent events, including the iPhone 7 announcement.
And, finally:
Apple declined to comment.
This was widely rumored, widely expected. It will be interesting to see if the new MacBook Pro ships without a headphone jack.
I suspect Apple will ship a lot of these.

Sh!tcan the headphone jack and everything else but USB-C/Thunderbolt 3 ! I don’t care… just give me something new and cool. My laptop fund has been building for so long I don’t even care how overpriced it is!
The multiple references to Sierra are odd, as if they released macOS without any hardware that could run it.
Also, “Apple declined to comment.” Yeah, sure they did. Declined to comment on their own comments.

They had better not eliminate the headphone jack. That’s also the TOSLINK digital output jack. I use that to feed my Schiit Modi DAC (http://schiit.com/products/modi-2). So does Marco. (But he might be using a more expensive Schiit model.)
Apple special events/town halls range between 60 to 90 minutes. October 2014 went for 1hr 19min. Has to be much more than a MacBook Pro, no?

according to the 13″ body leaked in may, it still got a headphone jack. but it might ship without a magsafe and without an sd-card slot (but with 4 usb-c instead), which is just as big a deal.
P.S. I also bet that Google will seriously enter the laptop next year with some sort of Andromeda-Pixel-Chromebook thingie.
Sure, I’m looking to replace my late-’13 15-inch MBP.
But I’ll be replacing my late-’13 21-inch iMac first.
Hoping there will be a decent iMac refresh on the 27th.
I can see Apple spending 15-20 minutes on MacBook Pro, particularly if the rumors are correct with OLED function keys and Touch ID.
All other Macs seem like spec bumps, and could be done in few minutes each (even if all are updated).
AirPods will probably get a mention with a release date.
Perhaps Apple is also announcing retina external display, Siri speakers, new WiFi router (perhaps mesh network), and/or 4K and HDR capable Apple TV?
Every time I go to the Dell site to price something out, I am always struck by the useless options presented … and obfuscated.
I hope Apple introduces or announces a Real Mac Pro. The Mini Pro is nice, for a small cylinder, yet internal expansion is king – for workstations… TB3, DDR4, PCI 3, etc… would also be nice for the RMPro. Non fixed RAM options for Mac Books, Mac Book Pros would be nice. Maybe even a second drive bay would be forward thinking – for Pro users.
