I’m of two minds about this. I acknowledge Dylan’s work, but the Academy’s language (“new poetic expressions”) is a bit purple.
About as meaningful as Obama winning a Peace Prize.
I’m not wanting to open it up to every Tom, Dick, and Harry that writes songs but Dylan had a unique impact on the 20th century and the mechanics of songwriting. I’ll allow it.
Remember, the Nobel committee doesn’t open it up to anybody. The committee’s choice is not open to negotiation.
