How much fun would it be to have one of these presses? I’d be crushing things all day long.

One of my favorite engineering classes was Strength of Materials. We spent the quarter crushing, bending, twisting and generally destroying anything we could in the name of science and engineering. Deflecting various types of glass and crystal to the point of breaking were especially interesting.
Oh yea! I would be too. I’d be turning those pipes on their edge and crushing them till they couldn’t be crushed anymore. What fun. : )
I used to use a very large UTM at Lockheed. It was bought years before I started in the lab from a locomotive builder. The floor mounted piston was 36 inches in diameter.
I’ve told you before, I think, about the joy I take in guessing who posted a particular story to Loop.
I nodded, said “Me too,” then decided it was a Shawn post. I got this one right. π
Wanton destruction! AWESOME.
LMAO I don’t know if that’s a good thing or not. π

Me either, but let’s just agree to call it a good thing. π
Back in the 80s David Letterman had a segment where he’d take viewer requests for what to crush in a hydraulic press. The canned ham was the greatest. The ham squirted out through a crack in the can like silly string.
