Oh come on now, does anyone here really think email is secure?
What were they thinking? Probably something along the lines of “We can’t afford to fight this, and nobody will ever find out anyway.”
A sad decline for a once-important company.
But they can afford to fight it. And the likes of MSFT, GOOG and Apple would have stood shoulder to shoulder with them. I am very disappointed in Marissa Mayer. She took Yahoo by storm and really sounded like, amongst other things, a leader who didn’t care what people thought. She was going to succeed or fail her way. It sounds more and more like, behind the scenes, she was heeding the wills of many. I really thought she was one of the good leaders.
the govt doesnt has a right to spy in my emails, nor do i think wussy tech companies should lick their boots and help them do it.
No they don’t, but we all know that doesn’t stop them. I agree that tech companies shouldn’t help them do it either.
But I never once presumed that email was at all, in any way shape or form, secure. I am sure you don’t either.
I am not shocked by this at all. I’m glad they were outed/caught, and in a odd way glad they did it. It just helps illustrate how easy it is for someone with access to the relay server(s) to read, store and retrieve information from email, to say the least. The kind of intrusion going on in the link below should be headline news everyday.

I’m not disagreeing in any way, just trying to guess what they were thinking.
This was a bad choice.
