From Mashable:
As other people try to stop him, the guy, believed to be in his thirties, shouts:
“Apple is a company that ‘violated’ European consumers’ rights. They refused to reimburse me, I told them: ‘Give me my money back’. They said no. So you know what’s happening? This is happening!” – before wrecking another iPhone.
Amazing to me that no one tried to stop him.
If someone’s crazy and smashing up stuff, you call the police and let them deal with them rather than put yourself at risk to protect the stuff. They can always make a claim against him for criminal damage afterwards.
I’m not surprised no one tried to stop him one bit. He’s clearly angry, holding a metal ball, and violent enough to be smashing things. In that situation it is not worth the liability or risk to have a store employee get involved. It is absolutely best to let security personnel and police handle a situation like this, as they have had some sort of training for these situations.
As disagreeable as this may seem, this is a job best left to the police.
As told in the first scene of Pulp Fiction “it is insured and nobody will risk their lives”, or something to this effect. 🙂
I HATE APPLE!

Dumbass. Upset because he wanted money, so he flushes ten times that much down the toilet in front of cameras. golf clap We have no idea what he thought he ought to get reimbursed for, but judging from the rest of his behavior, I’ll bet it was stupid too.
That’s a lie, of course. He’d have been detained. Police have to scuffle with violent perps all the time. If he’d screwed around and tried to use the rock, he’d have been tased. If he’d reached into his backpack, he might easily get shot. (And I’d expect no different treatment myself) But as you can see if the video, he’s just a chickenshit spoiled brat who had a tantrum. He didn’t fight living humans. He thought he could do his thing then run away.
it’s not a lie. our over-militarized police routinely shoot unarmed men for less.
Now he doesn’t get a refund and he’s gonna pay for all that stuff.
Good times.
Sometimes.
But far more often not – otherwise there’d be dozens and dozens a day, every day.
The “lie” is the assumption that it Would Obviously Definitely Always Happen.
Hard to tell the models but I counted 11 iPhones and 1 iPad. I think iPhones are around $800 there. That’s going to be a very expensive hissy fit.
Why the need to wildly exaggerate, contributing to an atmosphere that makes things worse for both the police and the public?
If we could stop with hyperbolic responses to everything we’d have a shot at actually dealing with the problems we have.
Wait. The very quote chosen says “As other people try to stop him….” So, doesn’t that mean some people tried?
True – Only if he is dark skinned.
Lie – if he is not dark skinned.
You know that is true.
Death = hyperbolic? = under the rug.
Ostrich sindrome.
yes, yet most of these “people” are punks … and most have little will and tiny minds. I guess some could be violent to other people … make a recording of it!
The US police force as a whole is over militarized and they (it would seem) rarely screen out people who would be bad police officers.
The thing is when someone does not comply to a lawful order and is appearing as a threat to the police, the police to have a right to shot and even kill the perpetrator.
lol, actually, more whites are killed by police and more murders are committed by people of “dark skin” as far as statistics go … also certain communities are more likely to kill each other … so what lives actually matter? — not really a question, yet all lives matter – we are all human after all.
the hyperbole of, “hands up, do not shoot”. Why do certain lies matter more?
some people may have attempted to stop him with a well worded dialogue … or a speech or “reason” …
money to burn … makes me feel not as bad having lost my 8 month old 128GB iPhone 6S …
Hyperbole is possible on all sides of every argument, but I don’t think it tends to be helpful.
What is helpful is impartial people looking at serious problems with good information, with common goals in mind, each aware they may have to compromise.
With regard to this issue, hyperbole = police will always shoot multiple times if threatened; or = the police are always right.
There is an enormous space between the extremes in which policy, training and judgment can be re-defined to make things better on the whole for everybody.
An angry, unstable person with a metal ball is not an extreme threat. I suspect most police either in the US or in Europe would have dealt with him reasonably. The idea that police in the US would have shot this person is utterly foolish, essentially an assumption that the very worst recent cases in a nation of 300 million camera-equipped individuals is the norm.
If people could simply exercise reasonable judgment, either in events like this or in discussion afterward, we would have a much brighter path in front of us.

Your rant prove my point.
you: “”more whites are killed by police”” – me: Killed at what ?
you: “”.. also certain communities are more likely to kill each other …”” — ??
me: Europeans descendants kills each others more because of PROXIMITY, no?
you:””so what lives actually matter? “” –
me: those who are stigmatised the MORE, do you have any doubt? read – The Half Has Never Been Told: Slavery and the Making of American Capitalism by Edward E. “”reasonable judgment?””
That is funny.
Read this the Guardian review of the iPhone 7 – https://www.theguardian.com/technology/2016/oct/03/iphone-7-plus-review-apple-newest-smartphone-phablet – Their verdict:
Pros: a day’s battery life, good dual camera and selfie camera, waterproof, taptic engine, good fingerprint scanner,
Cons: bulky, difficult to hold with one hand, no headphone socket, cannot unlock the phone with gloves or within an armband case, expensive, no removable battery, no memory expansion, can’t charge and listen to cabled headphones, very slow charging
Assuming you are living in the USA – “”reasonable judgment?””, funnier.
Yeah, indeed!
Ostrich syndrome is sexy.
Your response doesn’t seem to have anything to do with my post. Was this intended as a response to something else?
Ooh, generalizations about a notional group. Let me go get some popcorn.
“”reasonable”” is subjective to cultural, moral … background.
It is not transversal.
Reasonable means able to apply reason or logic. Culture is powerful, but so is the fundamental universality of human nature. With regard to discussions of police literally shooting people in response to minor threats, I’m confident peoples’ opinions would tend to be, to use your word, transversal.
